Shot 7 – Comforter Update

I used our updated week 8 video that Zachary put together to see how the transition between shot 6 and shot 7 would look.

  • Should be even more subtle since it’s almost fully settled in shot 6
  • Will try adding settling movement to the throw blanket only to avoid continuity issues

Test 2:

  • Simulation of corners only
  • Pressure constraint
  • Pinned the rest of the blanket to the sculpted shape that Emily made!
  • I think having only the corners move fits better with the Shot 6 ending, since the front corners are settling last

Shot 7 – Comforter Tests

Test 1 (version 2):

  • Simulation of the full comforter falling and settling
  • Pressure constraint to keep fluffly shape from sculpt
  • Decreased bend and stretch stiffness from version 1

Test 1 (version 1):

  • Simulation of the full comforter falling and settling
  • Will need to start later for transition from previous shot

Shot 2 – Embroidery Update

Since we’ve dedicated much of our time to our hero shots for the past two weeks, Ella will now be taking over the Shot 2 lighting, so I’m excited to see her results!

Feedback – Week 7 Review

Feedback from Mentors:

  • Kyle:
      • Shot 1 should have a camera move
      • Shot 1 looks like film grain with all of the popping and noise
      • Shot 2 needs cooler shadows and white values
      • The mattress in Shot 6 is glowing too much
      • Hold the end of Shot 6 longer, the cut feels too jarring
      • Shots 6 and 7’s lighting needs to match better
      • Shot 7’s window exposure needs to be increased
      • Color quilt needs to match more overall
      • Make camera move at the end of shot 7 continue instead of stop
  • Beck:
      • The sheets and bed look much softer
      • Good that sheets have the embroidery in all shots
      • To make shot 7 more interesting, the comforter can settle to add a little movement
  • Molly:
    • The mattress looks like a bar of soap, make it feel softer
